Text Help Read&Write

Students who cannot access technology cannot benefit from technology.  Scheduled to be rolled out to all Davis School District students during the 2017-2018 school year, Text Help Read&Write lets everyone read, write and express themselves more confidently. The easy-to-use toolbar makes any digital documents, files and online web pages more accessible. Read&Write is a big confidence booster for anyone who needs a little support with their reading and writing, at school or in the workplace. And its friendly literacy features help English Language Learners, as well as people with dyslexia or other learning difficulties. From hearing emails or documents read out loud to text prediction, picture dictionaries and summary highlighters, Read&Write makes lots of everyday literacy tasks simpler, quicker and more accurate.

Lego WeDo (available from 9:40 – 11:35)

LEGO® bricks are naturally engaging to elementary students. The hands-on robotics solutions ignite children’s natural desire to explore and discover. Students will learn subjects like math, science, technology, and engineering more effectively while improving and developing their 21st-century skills, like problem solving, collaboration and communication. Classroom-ready teaching solutions support teachers in creating an engaging and inspiring learning environment in key curriculum areas. Elementary resources are designed to stimulate critical thinking and encourage creative problem solving skills across a variety of real-world themes.

LittleBits

LittleBits is a 21st century tool for invention-based learning.  The easy-to-use electronic building blocks snap together with magnets for foolproof inventing, and each color-coded Bit has a specific function (e.g. lights, sensors, internet connectivity). With endless inventions, guides, and resources, educators and students can engage in increasingly complex challenges and watch their technology literacy, critical thinking and creative confidence grow!
